Biography
I started making music when I was three. From the age of six I took lessons, from the age of eight I gave performances in the Netherlands, from the age of nine also performances abroad and from the age of twelve I was paid for that and I played with big names from the music world.
When I was 17 I met Boris van der Lek, a renowned saxophonist. We became very good friends.
When I returned to the Netherlands after ten years in a prison in Peru, Boris crossed my path again. Together we came up with the idea of making a theater show.
About my time in Peru: when I was released there in 2016, I auditioned on television for the Peruvian version of America’s got Talent. That resulted in more than 8 million views on YouTube. I got the jury members laughing a lot during the preliminary interview
Then I realized: “YES, I CAN do it!” I went back to the Netherlands. There, together with Peter Faber, I started giving lectures at schools about my story in order to warn students to make better choices than I had done.
With a great team of people and a good director, Boris and I managed to make the show ‘Power of Rock‘. The show takes a cynical look at my 10 years of captivity in Peru. As a result, the ‘Power of Rock‘ has become a musical show that is both hilarious and moving.
